Download SC VXe Datasheet

The SC VXe, a high-end card from the SC VX series, features 2 compression engines and 4 decompression engines. This feature allows the SC VXe to run compression and decompression in parallel, a feature not available in the original SC series. It is best-suited for primary storage systems such as NAS, SAN and databases where more data is read (i.e. use of decompression) than is written (i.e. use of compression).

The SC VXe utilizes the industry-standard 'deflate' algorithm. It has been made compatible with the open-source gzip/zlib software, which ensures data can be decompressed even if the board is unavailable. The card can achieve a compression speed of 260 MB/sec and a decompression speed of 420 MB/sec.

The card works across the x86 Intel platforms for both 32 bit and 64 bit architectures, and has been tested across most of the popular Linux platforms, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server and OpenSolaris.

Features:

- 2 compression engines
- 4 decompression engines
- industry standard 'deflate' algorithm
- gzip/zlib compression format
- PCI-Express x4 interface
- Compression peak - 260 MB/sec
- Decompression Peak - 420 MB/sec
- Works with most flavors of Linux, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server and OpenSolaris

Applications:

- Primary storage systems such as NAS, SAN and databases
- Appliances which require high data integrity
- Hardware acceleration of ZFS compression
