Download SC VXLe Datasheet

The SC VXLe is a low-end board of the SC VX series. In contrast to the other SC series cards, the SC VX series allows compression and decompression to work in parallel. The board has 1 compression and 2 decompression engines, which makes it ideal for use in primary storage systems such as NAS, SAN and databases where more data is read (i.e. use of decompression) than is written (i.e. use of compression).

The SC VXLe implements the industry-standard 'deflate' algorithm and is compatible with the commonly used gzip/zlib software. This ensures that even when the card is unavailable, the compressed data can still be decompressed. The card can achieve a compression speed of 130 MB/sec and a decompression speed of 220 MB/sec.

The card works across the x86 Intel platforms for both 32 bit and 64 bit architectures, and has been tested across most of the popular Linux platforms, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server and OpenSolaris.

Features:

- 1 compression engine
- 2 decompression engines
- industry standard 'deflate' algorithm
- gzip/zlib compression format
- PCI-Express x4 interface
- Compression peak - 130 MB/sec
- Decompression Peak - 220 MB/sec
- Works with all flavors of Linux, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server and OpenSolaris

Applications:

- Primary storage systems such as NAS, SAN and databases
- Appliances which require high data integrity
- Hardware acceleration of ZFS compression
