Indra Networks announced today the availability of its compression co-processor, called the StorCompress 100. StorCompress uses "deflate" algorithm, a popular lossless compression algorithm used in open source software such as gzip and zlib. Data compressed using StorCompress can be decompressed by freely available gzip or zlib software. This enables interoperability with systems that do not have StorCompress hardware. StorCompress 100 offers the best compression ratio of any available hardware compression technology and increases storage capacity by an average of 3x. StorCompress 100 product fits into PCI slot of server motherboards and acts as a "compression coprocessors" for the host CPU. StorCompress products are focused on providing fast, efficient, and cost-effective solutions for the storage industry, with special emphasis on Disk-to-Disk (D2D) and Disk-to Disk-to-Tape (D2D2T) based backup and archival applications. StorCompress fits in well in NAS and Backup appliances "Advances in disk technology, declining cost of disks, and ever-increasing data storage have created a shift towards disk-based backup solutions. Indra's StorCompress will allow makers of such products to offer more cost-effective solutions to their customers", said Monish Shah, Indra's CEO. Availability StorCompress 100 is available worldwide immediately. For sales related inquires, please send an email to sales@indranetworks.com, or call (925)-519-0609. About Indra Networks |
