Indra Networks Introduces StorSecure 300, A Hardware Accelerator with data security

October 4, 2006

Indra Networks announced today the release of StorSecure 300, a PCI-X compression and encryption card. StorSecure 300 card is a unique combination of a compression engine along with an AES encryption engine, optimized for use in backup servers and appliances. Compression engine effectively doubles the storage space and encryption engine secures the data residing on the backup media, which may be disk or tape. The card has a compression throughput of up to 70 MByte/s and decompression throughput of up to 80 - 90 Mbyte/sec. The encryption/decryption throughput is up to 85 MBytes/s, with 128 bit key size. This effectively doubles the storage space and improves secures the data.

StorSecure 300 implements the AES algorithm in ECB mode with a 128 bit block size and variable key size of 128 and 256 bits. StorSecure 300 uses the "deflate" algorithm, which is compatible with the popular gzip and zlib open source software. This guarantees that the data compressed by StorSecure 300 will be decompressed by gzip and zlib software running on the client computer. Of course, this only becomes necessary if the StorSecure 300 hardware is unavailable. StorSecure hardware architecture includes 64-bit, 66 MHz PCI-X bus interface and multiple engines working in tandem to deliver desired compression and encryption throughput.

EMC Corp., a world leader in storage solutions, is working along with Indra Networks to include support for StorSecure 300 in their Retrospect backup software. Indra Networks has an OEM agreement with EMC. Under this agreement, Indra Networks will OEM Retrospect backup software from EMC and market disk-based backup appliances through its division, Accelera Systems. StorSecure 300 is used in such appliances for more storage space and security. This unique combination is an industry first and offers a premium product to customers at an affordable price.

"Today, customers' main concern is high cost for more data storage and even higher cost for data security. With StorSecure 300, Indra Networks Inc. has successfully addressed this concern. StorSecure 300 helps OEM storage companies to offer reduction in total cost of ownership and offer value added solutions compared to competitive solutions. With EMC providing native support for StorSecure 300 in Retrospect, we expect to offer this solution to all Retrospect users worldwide." said Monish Shah, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Indra Networks Inc.

Availability StorSecure 300 is available now, with a lead time of 8-12 weeks. For further enquiries, please send an email to sales@indranetworks.com
